In 2001 Stroytransgaz PJSC concluded a contract with Sibneft (now Gazprom neft JSC) to develop the Zapadno-Ozernoe gas-condensate field. Its reserves are estimated at approximately six billion m3, and the annual production of the project amounts to 120 million m3 of natural gas.

Zapadno-Ozernoe gas-condensate field development allowed gas supplies to Anadyr, where local boiler rooms fired with fuel oil would be switched to gas.

Within the framework of the project Stroytransgaz developed the well pads and built the following facilities:

  • seven-inch diameter pipeline running 104.2 km from the gas processing facility to the gas distribution station in Anadyr;
  • gas plant;
  • Automated gas distribution station;
  • gas gathering manifold;
  • helicopter pad;
  • various infrastructure within the site, storage depots;
  • civil structures.

Stroytransgaz mobilized 83 units of large construction machinery and built housing for 100 persons.

The project was complicated by severe climatic conditions, restricted works only in winter period and underdeveloped territory with many lakes and rivers. The gas pipeline route crossed flat marshland with intersections of 76 water barriers. To minimize the impact of the construction on the environment the laying of the pipes in the conditions of the permafrost was carried out below the level of ground thawing.

The project was completed in 2002.
