MRI room opens in Moscow at the M.F. Vladimirsky Moscow Regional Clinical Hospital

The first of five MRI scanning rooms equipped by Stroytransgaz is now open. A room with a 3-Tesla extra-high-power MRI scanner commences working at M.F. Vladimirsky Moscow Regional Clinical and Research Institute. The project is part of the national Healthcare project.

Stroytransgaz completed the design documentation, performed major repairs of facilities to house the equipment, and then supplied, adjusted, and put the medical equipment in service, as well as trained the personnel.

The high-tech MRI machine offers high contrast and allows to shorten examination times by 50 %.  The equipment is used to detect extra thin structures and tissues. The higher magnetic density enables high-resolution imaging that helps to recognize the causes of disease even with minimal visible changes in the patient's body.

In addition to the machine itself, the room is equipped with a whole range of auxiliary equipment: from a set for placing and fixing the examinee to a special precision air conditioning system with temperature and humidity control in the treatment and engineering sections of the room, as well as RF protection of the room (Faraday cage, i.e. a grounded shielded box).

Svetlana Strigunkova, First Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government, said: "Such state-of-the-art equipment is essential for making a precise diagnosis and choosing the most appropriate patient treatment strategy. Both outpatients, and inpatients can undergo examinations with the new machine”.

Healthcare personnel is already using the new device, particularly, for detecting cardiac diseases and cancer in its earliest stages.

Soon, four more MRI rooms renovated and re-equipped by Stroytransgaz will open in other medical centers.
