Every day, Phase 1 facilities of the Vladivostok Culture and Education Complex near the point when they will be delivered – Stroytransgaz-Vostok is now doing finish work in four buildings on Russky island. On the Eagle's Nest hill, workers are continuing to install vertical structures and by the beginning of May reached the final grade level at one of the job sites.

Not yet put into service, the venues of the Culture and Education Complex are becoming a "visiting card" of the Primorye Territory, with region’s high-ranking guests regularly coming to the construction sites of STG-Vostok, and the Governor of Primorye proudly demonstrates the buildings of educational institutions, museums and theatres under construction. In April, the site of the future complex on the Russian island was visited by Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko. The head of Belarus appreciated the pace of construction and announced the arrival of 150 more Belarusian specialists in Vladivostok. They should start working at the STG-Vostok’s construction sites by mid-May. In addition, Alexander Lukashenko instructed Ruslan Parkhamovich, Belarus’ Minister of Architecture and Construction, to make sure that the promised assistance with the construction is provided in the best way.

Builders from Belarus will first of all be directed to the construction site on the Russky island, where a number of venues of the Culture and Education Complex are being prepared for commissioning. The larger portion of facade works has been completed, finish works are already underway at four buildings – at the building of the Choreography Academy, the Education Centre, the boarding school for students of the Special School of Music and one of the apartment buildings.

In total, by early February, Stroytransgaz-Vostok has plastered over 80,000 sq. m of walls, and painted almost 56,000 sq. m of surfaces. More than 175,000 sq. m of walls and partitions has been installed, almost 30,000 sq. m of windows and glass curtain walls has been installed.

Continuing are activities such as installation of industrial carpeting, rubber flooring, ballet bars in the choreography halls, finishing of the gym of the education centre, and concert halls.

On the Eagle's Nest hill, builders are installing vertical in-situ structures and have already reached the final grade level at one job site. Since the start of construction, builders have used about 500 tons of rebars and placed more than 7,000 cubic meters of concrete.

At the same time, Stroytransgaz-Vostok has almost completed the excavation and shoring; by now, more than 330,000 tons of soil has been removed from the construction site. 942 secant piles have already been installed along the perimeter of the future building of the Culture and Education Complex.

Important work in the past month was also carried out by specialists involved in the implementation of the Stroytransgaz Production System at the company's construction sites. In particular, the company’s central warehouse has been aligned with the requirements of the 5C system – it was put in order, labelling and overall layout were developed, materials were zoned. In order to avoid time losses related to material searching and logistics, specialists from the construction site no longer come to the warehouses themselves, but submit a weekly request, warehouse personnel fulfil it and bring the requested materials to the construction site.

A system of checklists has been introduced in the premises that are at the stage of construction and installation – such checklists showing all types of activities carried out, progress of such activities, and delivery status of the materials needed. This innovation came to Vladivostok from the colleagues at STG-Zapad, who are building the Culture and Education Complex in Kaliningrad.

Also, Production System specialists have developed construction and installation schedules for educational buildings up to Level 3. Priority areas are distributed, material supply chains are described in detail and optimized, all problems are sorted out. This measure will significantly speed up the commissioning process.

Finally, in April, we organized process mapping* involving the contractors operating on the Eagle's Nest hill. A construction process map for the facilities at this site is nearing completion.

* Process mapping is making a process map, which is a visual tool that helps team members to get a common understanding of the main steps of the process, its limits, losses, duplicated functions and bottlenecks.
