Blue Fuel Came to the Volga Riverbanks

Stroytransgaz Project Director Alexander Mayorov, together with other project participants, press the gas flow start button

A grand ceremony of launching the gas pipeline and the gas distribution station (GDS) was held in the city of Yuryevets, Ivanovo Region. The facilities were built as part of the Program for the Development of Gas Supply and Gasification of Ivanovo Region for 2021–2025. The construction work was carried out by AO Stroytransgaz, with OOO Gazprom Mezhregiongaz as the customer.

The celebration ceremony was attended by Governor of the Ivanovo Region Stanislav Voskresensky, Deputy General Director for Government Relations and Regional Affairs of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Oleg Lyapustin, General Director of AO Gazprom Raspredelenie Ivanovo Sergey Mazalov. Stroytransgaz Group was represented by Project Director Alexander Mayorov.

Governor Stanislav Voskresensky personally thanked all project participants at the ceremony: ‘Thank you so much for your work! Thanks for getting it all done and on time. We intentionally did not set the timeline gas supply to Yuryevets, because people here have been promised gas literally for several decades. For various reasons, we could not handle this problem. This is only the start – we have brought gas to the first houses on Glazova Gora, but the main work is ahead. But we did not give any promises, we simply did what we did. That’s the way everyone should work.’

The length of the gas pipeline branch is 46.5 km. Directional drilling method was used for laying of the gas pipeline in 29 locations where the route crosses streams, ravines and artificial obstacles. This method allows for preservation of the natural ecological state of water resources, and makes it possible to keep roads in good condition.

‘Our goal is to satisfy the gas demand of the region’s residents. Residents of 5,566 households and apartments in the city of Yuryevets and the villages of Shikhovo and Konoplishchi will be the first to have access to natural gas supply. All this will make people's lives more comfortable and environmentally friendly,’ Alexander Mayorov, Project Director of AO Stroytransgaz said.

The gas pipeline branch and the GDS will provide gas to four inter-settlement gas pipelines, which, in turn, will create conditions for gasification of more than 7 thousand households and 17 boiler houses in 19 settlements of Ivanovo Region, including the city of Yuryevets. The social facilities that will receive gas include schools, kindergartens, village cultural centres, medical institutions and others.

Prior to launching the gas pipeline branch, the line was tested for strength and tightness (hydraulic and pneumatic testing) and underwent bore cleaning, pipeline calibration, in-line technical diagnostics, drying and nitriding. A pressurized tie-in was made into the existing gas pipeline, and gas was supplied for commissioning.

The builders are especially proud of the successful import substitution – in the rapidly changing economic conditions, they managed to implement the project using domestically manufactured equipment on many occasions.

Yuryevets is the oldest city in Ivanovo Region. This is one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the central Russia, with unforgettable views of the great Russian river Volga. This city is the birthplace of film director Andrei Tarkovsky and the classic of the Soviet fantasy movies Alexander Rou. Now this beautiful city has access to pipeline gas.

The expected result of the gas pipeline branch construction is an increase in the total level of Ivanovo Region supply with natural gas to 80.9% by 2025.

Background:

In 2020-2021, AO Stroytransgaz concluded EPC contracts with OOO Gazprom Mezhregiongaz to build 11 gasification facilities with a total length of over 231 km, including 7 inter-settlement gas pipelines
and 4 gas pipeline branches and GDSs. 9 facilities have been completed.

To date, 230.8 km (100%) of gas pipelines have been welded and laid, and 23 (100%) gas distributors have been installed. The Korsakov GDS and Yuryevets GDS (undergoing commissioning) have been installed and connected to gas supply. Preparations for testing of process pipelines of the Yuzhnaya GDS and bank protection works for the Tymovskoye inter-settlement gas pipeline are nearing completion.
