Lobnenskoye Highway is Open for Traffic

Stroytransgaz Group has completed major part of the Lobnya-Sheremetyevo Airport highway reconstruction. Road traffic is up and running throughout the main road and part of the alternate routes.

Lobnenskoye Highway is one of the most congested roads in Lobnya municipal district. Its proximity to Sheremetyevo Airport makes it a highly popular destination for both local residents and transit traffic. To address traffic congestion in the area, it has been decided to perform its renovation.

2.2 km of Lobnenskoye Highway were expanded, as well as 0.9 km of Sheremetyevskaya Street. The main road is now entirely open for traffic at 80 km/h speed limit. The sideways (alternate routes) are partially open for traffic at 50 km/h speed limit.

The reconstruction will reduce the travel time for vehicles to 10-15 minutes and increase the road capacity to 67,000 vehicles per day. As a result of this project execution, the number of lanes was increase from 3 to 8.

One of the main elements of the renovation is the bridge over the Meshcheriha River. The overhaul involves construction of the new part of the bridge (expansion) and subsequent replacement of the old bridge consisting of two culverts. The engineering structure offers 7 lanes in total, 4 lanes on the left-hand side and 3 lanes on the right-hand side. 2.25 m wide pedestrian pavement is provided on the left-hand side.

Pedestrian overpass 

To ensure traffic safety the following pedestrian overpasses were put into operation: No. 4 near Terminal B of Sheremetyevo Airport (the length of pedestrian bridge with stairs is 60.21 m) and No. 3 near Nosovo village (the length of pedestrian bridge with stairs is 88.89 m).

The environmental provisions of the project were fulfilled by building 3 local treatment plants (LTP).

Over 200 personnel and around 45 units of machinery were engaged at the construction site on a daily basis.

Construction of alternate routes, erection of another two pedestrian overpasses and utility upgrades will take place in 2023.

The Lobnya–Sheremetyevo Airport highway section reconstruction project is being implemented as part of an action plan aimed at developing the road network and improving transport accessibility between the transport districts of Lobnya and neighbouring districts in the view of a significant growth in urban development across the residential and industrial areas. The project was commissioned by the Road Construction Office of the Moscow Region.
