Aboveground Crossing Superstructure Installed at Lobnenskoye Highway


“Lobnya – Sheremetyevo Airport” highway is one of the busiest approach roads to the airport. Stroytransgaz Group is improving the highway to resolve the transport issues. To date, the facility construction is 75 % complete.

The builders have installed the aboveground crossing superstructure at ​​the intersection of Lobnenskoye Highway and Promyshlennaya Street.

‘The structure with a length of over 47 metres was installed at night, so as not to interfere with the traffic. The total weight of the steel overpass superstructures is over 62 tons. The new crossing will ensure safe and comfortable passenger flow and will be equipped with everything necessary to ensure access for people with limited mobility. Another aboveground crossing will be completed by the end of this year near the 2nd Severny Proezd’, said Alexey Gerzhik, Deputy Chairman of the Government, Minister of Transport of the Moscow Region.

At the same time, noise screens are being installed: 100 of 188 metres are complete. In addition, utility systems installation is nearing completion: rainwater drainage is 85 % complete, communication lines 80 % complete, cable lines (0.4–10 kV) are 75 % complete, and redesign of gas pipelines is fully complete.

Full-scale construction and improvement of the highway has already started. Today, 1,000 metres of 4,200 metres of paving have been laid. The ongoing activities also include redesign of the existing access ramps and laying of stone mastic asphalt over the main traffic lane and access ramps.

The builders have started the construction of 2 MCTSs for power supply of the facility, and improvement of the Rosneft fuel pipeline.

120 workers and 23 units of machinery are engaged at the construction site on a daily basis. The works are to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2023.

The project will reduce the travel time along Lobnenskoye Highway for vehicles to 10–15 minutes and increase the road capacity to 67 thous. vehicles per day.

The Lobnya–Sheremetyevo Airport highway section reconstruction project is being implemented as part of an action plan aimed at developing the road network and improving transport accessibility between the transport districts of Lobnya and neighbouring districts in the view of a significant growth in urban development across the residential and industrial areas. The project was commissioned by the Road Construction Office of the Moscow Region.
