Stroytransgaz Completed over 60% of Reconstruction on Section of Lobnenskoye Highway

Stroytransgaz Group is implementing Phase 1 of Lobnya-Sheremetyevo Airport highway reconstruction. To date, the facility is 65% complete. The works are going on around the clock, according to the planned production schedule.

The Government of Moscow Region is interested in improving and developing the road infrastructure around the airport. In this regard, the reconstruction of the facility, located in Moscow Region, Solnechnogorsk District and urban districts of Khimki and Lobnya, is scheduled to be fully completed in November 2023.

It shall be noted that in December 2022 traffic on the main road was fully launched with a 80 km/h speed limit. The side lanes (relief roads) were opened to vehicular traffic in partial operation mode with a permitted speed of 50 km/h. Thus, construction work to widen Lobnensky Highway was completed for 2.2 km and 0.9 km along Sheremetevskaya Street.

Support No. 1 of the first overhead pedestrian crossing

Two overhead pedestrian crossings are currently under construction: No. 1 (near Sherrison-Nord Industrial Park) and No. 2 (near MASh JSC administrative building). The builders plan to start the first support of crossing No. 2 and the road works of the exit ramp to the 2nd North Passage of the airport traffic area after switching of 982 m long pipeline section (scheduled for April this year). To date, pile foundations have been completed at crossings 1 and 2 (second support) and concrete towers with lift shafts and stairwells are being constructed. The slipway spans of the artificial structures have also been assembled - 108.92 tonnes (100%). At the same time, crossing No. 1 is 75% complete, and crossing No.2 is 40% complete.

In addition, utility installation is underway on the site: rainwater drainage is 75% complete, communication lines 80% complete, cable lines (0.4-10 kV) 65% complete and gas pipelines (no tie-ins) 85% complete. 65 workers and 16 units of machinery are engaged at the construction site on a daily basis.

The reconstruction will reduce the travel time along Lobnenskoye Highway for vehicles to 10-15 minutes and increase the road capacity to 67,000 vehicles per day. As a result of this project, the number of lanes will increase from 3 to 8. It shall be noted that Lobnya–Sheremetyevo Airport highway section reconstruction project is being implemented as part of an action plan aimed at developing the road network and improving transport accessibility between the districts of Lobnya and neighbouring districts in the view of a significant growth in urban development across the residential and industrial areas.
