Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts

On Oktyabrsky Island, the monolithic frame of the Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts is nearing completion. The base of the concise, step-shaped structure is almost complete. It required 8.2 thousand cubic meters of concrete.

The Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts has a total area of 8,900 square metres. It will provide a venue for 150 students to study the performing arts. Also the building will house the School of Creative Industries, a further education platform for pupils grades 5 to 11.

Dmitry Rzhannikov, General Director of STG-Zapad“Completion of the monolithic frame is one of the most important stages in the construction of any building. You could say that we have finished binding tonnes of rebar, pouring concrete and have created a solid foundation. The building will now be transformed and filled with life. Erection of steel and glass structures at the facade, installation of utilities, interior finishing — all these refer to the next work stage. This will determine visual perception of the architecture design, the feeling of comfort in the rooms, and the ease of use for all the facilities created. For a while it may seem as if nothing is happening at the site, as installation of interior partitions and utilities is no longer observable. Nevertheless, construction of the building for Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts proceeds at a very fast pace.”
