Maestro Has Visited STG Construction Sites in Vladivostok

Valery Abisalovich Gergiev, Artistic Director and General Director of the State Academic Mariinsky Theatre, has visited construction sites of the cultural and educational complex in Vladivostok.

Igor Vladimirovich Volkunovich, General Director of Stroytransgaz-Vostok, during a joint walkdown of construction sites on Eagle’s Nest Hill and on Russky Island, told the renowned artistic celebrity about the construction progress and immediate plans, and outlined the deadlines for the facilities commissioning.

“Even now, some of the buildings on Russky Island are almost 100% ready, by September, we will finish the territory landscaping and commence to the facilities commissioning,” – Igor Vladimirovich Volkunovich outlined.

The maestro noted the high readiness of the buildings of the choreographic academy and the educational center on Russky Island, highly appreciated the work of STG-Vostok employees and expressed confidence that the launch of the cultural and educational complex would be a great gift for residents and guests of Vladivostok.

“The Primorye Territory is one of the key regions of our country, located at the junction of the largest Asian economies, which together make up more than half of the world’s economic potential. I am sure that Vladivostok should be one of the cultural capitals of our country. Appearance of a cultural and educational complex here is a very timely event that will give a big impetus to the cultural environment promotion in the region, provide local talents with an opportunity to study at the country’s best cultural educational institutions and later to perform on big stages,” – Valery Abisalovich Gergiev concluded.

Stroytransgaz Group is building cultural and educational complexes in Vladivostok and in 3 other Russian cities at the request of National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects according to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s mandate. In Vladivostok, a large-scale cultural cluster will be located at two sites.

An educational complex is being built on Russky Island, its total building area is more than 90 thousand square meters. It will combine an education center for 550 students with a canteen and a swimming pool, a branch of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory Central Music School, and Choreographic Academy, a branch of Moscow State Academy of Choreography. Educational buildings and boarding facilities will be connected via heated skywalks. Also at this site, a dormitory for 150 students is being built, as well as two boarding facilities for students of educational institutions, and three apartment buildings for educators and performing artists.


STG-Vostok will build a large museum and theatre center on Eagle’s Nest Hill. It will house branches of the State Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Museum of Oriental Arts, Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, School of Creative Industries and the Mariinsky Theatre’s stage.
