Western Construction Site

Construction of the cultural and educational complex on Oktyabrsky Island is in its active phase. The buildings of the Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts are rising quickly. All internal base work has been completed in the Tretyakov Gallery Branch.

With every passing day the Tretyakov Gallery Branch takes on the look conceived by the architect. Installation of the aluminium exterior facade is close to completion. More than half of the skylights (77 of 126) were installed on the roof of the building, providing natural lighting for the exhibition halls. All walls of the 50-meter administrative tower are prepared for glazing. The area of ​​2.4 thousand square meters hosts the fully installed mullion-transom system, and the installation of energy-efficient multiple glass units has also started. Ventilation and air conditioning systems has been completely installed to create a microclimate with certain parameters.

Dmitry Rzhannikov, General Director of STG-Zapad LLC states: “Completion of all interior rough work is an important step. We can say that for the Tretyakov Gallery Branch we are coming to the finish line, although we are a long way from completing the project. In order to carry out work in the winter period a heating circuit was arranged already in autumn, so we continue to work in comfortable conditions, allowing our workers to perform the task of interior finishing of the premises with high quality. In general, the building is built, and now it will be transformed in the inside”.

The foundation frame for the Opera and Ballet Theatre approaches its completion in December. In other words, the foundation slab is ready for the entire area of the building. It required 13.5 thousand cubic meters of concrete. Erection of vertical structures is in progress – the elevation of 10.8 meters above ground level has been reached. The load-bearing structures are 40% ready.

At the construction site of the Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts erection of vertical structures is in progress. The building rose to the level of the fourth floor, reaching the elevation of 20 meters above ground level. The load-bearing structures are 70% ready.

To date, 1,250 people are involved in the construction of three facilities of the cultural and educational complex. To ensure timely provision of resources (steel structures, finishing materials, concrete), freight vehicles enter the construction site 185 times a day on average. Seven tower cranes were involved.

- Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts (branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts) for 150 seats.
Construction of the Cultural and Educational Complex in Kaliningrad is being carried out by the Stroytransgaz Group as commissioned by the National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects. The designer is the GORKA Group.
