The Governor of Kuzbass held a headquarters for construction of the Opera and Ballet Theatre

The Cultural and Educational Complex in Kemerovo is one of the largest construction projects in the region and is unique for the country as a whole. Under the instruction of Vladimir Putin, the President, four such complexes are simultaneously under construction in Russia for the first time, and include the branches of the Great and Mariinsky Theatres, Russian Museum and Tretyakov Gallery, concert halls, museum and exhibition spaces, as well as branches of leading higher education institutions of arts. These are located in Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, Kemerovo and Sevastopol.

“This project is being implemented under the instruction of Vladimir Putin, the Russian President. He decided to build such a complex here in Kuzbass. An “arts quarter” will appear in Kemerovo, which will make the region the cultural centre of Siberia. Construction of facilities and improvement of the territory adjacent to them shall be carried out in the same style. Everything shall be done at the highest level,” Sergei Tsivilev, the Governor, emphasized.

The head of the region noted that he would keep the construction of the facility under his personal control. Construction headquarters will be held weekly to synchronize work. The heads of enterprises and institutes participating in the project must have detailed materials.

Construction of the Siberian Art Cluster facilities in Kemerovo began in 2019. The Opera and Ballet Theatre (a branch of the State Academic Mariinsky Theatre); the branch of the Russian Museum; the Kuzbass Centre of Arts; the branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts with the Creative Industries School; and the house for performing artists will appear in the city.

In 2022, the following facilities were built: the museum depository with a restoration centre, the house for teachers, the hostel for the Siberian branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts with the stadium.

The branch of the Moscow State Choreography Academy with the boarding school, the Siberian Branch of the Central Music School-Academy of Performing Arts with the boarding school, as well as a secondary school with two swimming pools were commissioned in 2021.
