The Culture and Education Complex on Orlinoye Gnezdo is becoming more impressive. Orlinoye Gnezdo is the highest point of the historical part of Vladivostok already, and the building of the Complex adds another 40 metres to its height. Erection of reinforced concrete structure is ongoing here. More than 43 thousand cubic metres of concrete have already been poured. The building frame construction is 63% complete.
The largest cultural complex in the Far East of Russia (total area of 70 thousand square metres) is comprised of museum, theatre and education sections. The final, sixth floor has been constructed in the building intended to house the branches of the Hermitage, Tretyakov Gallery and the Oriental Museum. The total height of the future museum centre will exceed 45 metres.

‘This building will feature common spaces with panoramic windows and a great view of the Zolotoy Rog Bay. Their total area will be about 2 thousand square metres. A high basement floor will also be a part of the museum centre. It will house a laboratory, creative workshops, museum storage spaces and a separate loading dock for trucks’, added STG-Vostok Director General Evgeny Koshelev.
In addition, the works in the building to house the branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts and the Creative Industries School are still ongoing. The 4th floor cast-in-place structures at the 24 m elevation have been completed recently. The crews are commencing erection of internal stairs.

The second stage of the Mariinsky Theatre branch will be the largest part of the complex in terms of height and area. Two concert halls of the Opera and Ballet Theatre for 1,300 seats will be located here. The builders are currently pouring concrete into the stage’s base and constructing cast-in-place structures below the zero elevation. A building frame 12 metres high has already been completed; it is intended for future maintenance floors where the stage equipment will be located.

Background:
The cultural cluster in Vladivostok is one of the four such projects currently being implemented in the country under order of the President of the Russian Federation. The construction is underway at two sites. Apart from the erection of the Museum and Theatre Complex on Orlinoye Gnezdo Hill, construction is underway on Russky Island. A Culture and Education Centre will be located here. It will be comprised of nine buildings, among which are branches of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography and the Central Music School, an Education Centre with a canteen and a pool, two boarding houses for students, the campus of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, and three fully furnished multi-apartment residential buildings for teaching staff and performing artists.
