A delegation of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education, and Culture chaired by Lilia Gumerova visited the cultural and educational complex under construction on Russky Island. The senator pointed out that an exceptional opportunity had appeared for the best teachers from all over the country to work with gifted children in Vladivostok. Hundreds of children will be able to develop their talents and get a profession in the best conditions imaginable on the island.

“The complex has excellent conditions for education, upbringing, and development of creative abilities for children. Talking to teachers today, we recall the experience of past years, namely the Soviet period, when specialised schools existed. Those times, talents were sourced specifically in the regions, they were looked for in every small town or village. And further on, on the basis of such centres, children could get a profession and reveal their talents,” added Lilia Gumerova, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education, and Culture.

The cultural construction was also appreciated by Elvira Shamonova, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Education of Primorye. According to the Minister, the Primorye stage of the Mariinsky Theatre needs such talents. Ballet and music are complex forms of art, but they are still in demand. We expect at least two or three students competing for each place. The complex has 550 budget places.

Currently, all nine buildings of the cultural and educational complex have been completed. The last educational building, a branch of the Central Music School, is waiting for the commissioning permit to be obtained. The next phase is to transfer the completed facilities to users. The educational complex should open by the new academic year.

It is worth reminding that the cultural and educational complex in Vladivostok will be located in two historically and strategically important places at the same time. The second site will open on the Orlinoye Gnezdo Hill. It will accommodate branches of the Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Oriental Arts, the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, the School of Creative Industries, and the Mariinsky Theatre’s stage, all under the same roof.
