The story about construction professions is very interesting for children from the Juvenile Social Rehabilitation Center.
Employees of Stroytransgaz GK, a socially oriented company, take part in charity events and do a lot of vocational guidance activities. Both of these arees are combined in another Stroytransgaz-Siberia project. This time, our specialists told about the construction industry professions and presented toys and books to children of the Little Prince Juvenile Social and Rehabilitation Center in Kemerovo.
The charity event is organized jointly with the Kuzbass branch of Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper. The Little Prince hosts up to 60 children from vulnerable families for a day to six months. Typically, these are children without parental care, children in a socially dangerous situation, and neglected children. Most of them do not enjoy proper parental love and care. While the children are living in the Center, the issue of their return to their families (preferably) or their moving to an orphanage is resolved.
There will soon be a garden here
- While the social protection system is helping adult family members solve their problems, the children live in the Center," says Yevgeny Ageyev, the Center's director. - They learn basic self-care skills. They learn how to use the washing machine, the microwave, how to sew on buttons, iron the laundry, work with a hammer and file, and how to spend money wisely: buy products that can be used to make pizza or soup, for example, and cook those very dishes. We have a small garden, a few seedbeds and greenhouses, so the children can learn how to take care of the plants.
Some toys and books for the Rehabilitation Store
Children from different families come to the facility, and many of them at first decline to, for example, sweep paths, or work in the workshops and in the garden. To inspire the children to work, the center's staff developed the Rehabilitation Store project. Points are added to the children's "workbooks" for assistance to caregivers and the work performed. On Fridays, these points can be used to "buy" goods in the "Rehabilitation Store", which is replenished exclusively from raised funds: charitable assistance from citizens and the staff of the Center. This store was replenished by employees of STG-Siberia: they donated about 50 toys and more than 100 books. They also told high school students about construction professions, the Siberian cultural and educational complex and the opportunities available to local residents.
Yevgeny Ageyev, the Center's director, tells guests about the facility
Vadim Shmelkov, an electrician for power grids and electrical equipment with 15 years of experience, talked about his work experience, how after the military service he first came to the construction site as an unskilled worker, joined the training program, and now links his future life with this industry.
Margarita Korotkova, Head of HR & Organizational Development, answered numerous questions about who the "headhunters" are, how the department recruits, why different engineers are needed, what the "social package" is, what benefits welders are entitled to, etc.
A lively and active conversation took place, during which STG specialists encouraged the children to think about why it is so important for everyone to choose a profession that suits them, that will feed their families and bring them satisfaction.
- Imagine that your life is a closet with many drawers, - Margarita said. - This is your work, family, hobbies, friends. Each drawer should be filled with bright, beautiful memories, hopes, and plans. Then your life will be full and comprehensive. The drawer with your profession should be chosen according to your desires and the peculiarities of your character. Then you will go to work with pleasure, and back home with joy!
The STG-Siberia team's collection of good doings will continue to grow. Now the company is collecting books for the "People's Library" campaign. All collected books will be donated to the club of Klyuchevoy settlement of Topki district, where about 200 people live and work, to create a library for the residents. Given that the settlement does not yet have very good communications and almost no Internet, it is clear why books remain a particularly welcome and necessary gift here.
