“Construction has been completed at all facilities of the educational complex in Vladivostok. The Branch of the Central Music School was the last building to receive a commissioning permit. This will provide for the educational process starting in all institutions on Russky Island in September. About 550 students from different regions of this country will be able to study here using budget funds. Earlier, studies have already begun in the educational buildings of cultural complexes in Kaliningrad and Kemerovo, designed for 600 students,” said Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

General View of the Cultural and Educational Complex on Russky Island

“All the four complexes are being built according to individual projects, which have no equivalents in the world. The cluster infrastructure is thought out in detail for each of the cities. Rehearsal rooms in educational theatres are designed to meet all acoustic requirements and outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, so that students could rehearse and perform in conditions as close as possible to the stage. Any and all conditions have been created in the branches for safe, comfortable living and education of children,” said Dmitry Lebedev, General Director of Stroytransgaz JSC.

The cultural cluster in Vladivostok consists of an educational part on Russky Island and a museum and theatre part on the Orlinoye Gnezdo Hill, the highest point in the historical part of the city. The total area of the facilities will be almost 160 thousand square meters. On the Orlinoye Gnezdo Hill, construction is underway – the largest cultural complex in the Far East with an area of 70 thousand square meters will appear here. Branches of the Hermitage, Tretyakov Gallery, and Oriental Museum, RGISI, the School of Creative Industries, and a stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will be located in one and the same building. The exhibition programme also provides for regular participation of the partner museums: Russian Museum, Primorsky State Art Gallery, Far East History Museum after V.K. Arsenyev, and other Russian and foreign museums.

The cultural and educational complexes are being built based on instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kaliningrad, Vladivostok, Kemerovo, and Sevastopol. The developer is the National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects (founders: the Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatres), the general contractor is Stroytransgaz Group.
