Only 19 metres of vertical structures remain to be erected to reach the top point of the Bolshoi Theatre Branch. Finishing works are being carried out on the roof of the branch of the Tretyakov Gallery. The mounting frame for the facade of the Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts is 35 % complete. The ongoing construction of the three facilities on Oktyabrsky Island is going as scheduled.

Clinker facade construction has been started along the perimeter of the branch of the Tretyakov Gallery: the clinker tiles are being mounted on prefinished surfaces according to the design colour scheme. The facade is being finished using tiles of special hardness — clinker tiles — which are so called for the metallic sound they make (from the Dutch ‘klinken’, which means ‘the ring of glass on glass’). Clinker tiles are well-known for their unique hardness which makes them resistant to scratches or mechanical damage. The tiles do not lose their properties under environmental effects.

Preparations for further improvement of the adjacent territory are being made around the building: the so-called “cushion” is made from crushed stones and sand for pouring concrete before laying paving slabs. It should be noted that the facade colouring is based on the common colour solution aligned with the public space design, and will have a smooth transition.

Metal grating is made on the roof of the building to finish the museum roofing. Finishing works are underway in all the halls and premises of the branch of the Tretyakov Gallery. An area of 4.4 thous. square metres is intended to feature 14 exhibition halls. The future museum is to comprise museum depositories, study studios and lecture halls, pottery and craft workshops, painting workshop, cinema hall, restoration rooms, library, as well as a winter garden and cafe.

Mrs. Kamilya Baidildina, Director of the Kaliningrad branch of the Tretyakov Gallery, points out: ‘The branch of the Tretyakov Gallery has been designed and is being built in accordance with all modern requirements to museums’.

The vertical structures of the Bolshoi Theatre Branch are erected at elevation 31 m. Only 19 metres remain to reach its top point at 50.35 metres. In total, the monolithic frame is 83 % complete.

‘Looking at the top view, one could see a large auditorium, its stage, orchestra pit, future spectator seats in the stalls and the amphitheatre,’ says Mr Dmitry Rzhannikov, Director of STG-Zapad. ‘The building is already 31 metre high; reinforcement is being installed at the level of 31–36 metres. Everyone can follow the progress of the cantilever construction from Paradnaya Embankment now. To realise its sheer size, just imagine that all the steel elements installed make up only five per cent of the total volume to be installed’.

The erection of internal and external utility systems is underway in the Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts. The work on the facade will be also continued: a rack and crossbeam system designed to fix stained-glass windows and corten steel is 35 % complete.
