Delegation from the Tretyakov Gallery visited the cultural and educational complex on Orlinaya Sopka

Tatyana Gafar, Deputy CEO of the State Tretyakov Gallery for the Development of New Museum Spaces, and Tatyana Gorodkova, Chief Curator of the State Tretyakov Gallery, together with restorers, curators, and exhibition specialists visited the construction site of the cultural and educational complex on the Orlinoye Gnezdo (Eagle Nest) Hill.

"The construction of the cultural and educational complex is an important step for the Far East. Today we had a chance to see where the future exposition halls, restoration workshops, chemical laboratories, cafes for visitors, and other facilities will be located," said Tatyana Gafar, Deputy Director of the State Tretyakov Gallery for the Development of New Museum Spaces.

Evgeny Koshelev, CEO of Stroytransgaz-Vostok, said that not all collections of the Tretyakov Gallery can be displayed in local museums. A spectacular exposition requires high ceilings and spacious and wide exhibition halls. These are exactly the halls that are being built in the new complex at Orlinaya Sopka.

"The Tretyakov Gallery is launching two large branches - in Kaliningrad and Vladivostok. It is my first time here and I am impressed by the project’s magnitude. We are facing a challenging task – how to fill 2,500 sq. meters of exposition space so that the permanent exposition of the Moscow museum would not be affected. On the other hand, it is important for us not to disappoint the residents and guests of the Primorsky Krai capital," added Tatyana Gorodkova, Chief Curator of the State Tretyakov Gallery.

Note that the overall footprint of the Cultural and Educational Complex on Orlinaya Sopka will be 70,000 square metres. The following branches will appear in Primorye: the Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Oriental Art, the Russian State Institute of Stage Arts, the School of Creative Industries and the stage of the Mariinsky Theater. The Cultural and Educational Complex in Vladivostok will operate at two sites at the same time. Stroytransgaz-Vostok completed construction of a 90,000-square-meter educational facility on Russky Island. 550 gifted children will study here once the school year starts.
