Construction of RGISI Kemerovo branch is complete!

The building of the High School of Music and Dramatic Arts (Siberian Campus of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts with the School of Creative Industries) was completed and put into operation in Kemerovo. The educational building was built by STG-Sibir according to a customized project with a unique architecture as part of the construction of the Siberian Cultural and Educational Complex.

The building includes a modern transforming theater, an atrium, a spacious co-working area, recreational facilities, and a media library. The educational process is supported by a whole range of dedicated high-tech studios and laboratories: acting and directing studios, workshops and studios for staging of performances, a filming pavilion, a sound recording room, a light, video and VR laboratory, a stage movement and dance hall, classrooms for stage speech and vocals, computer graphics classrooms.

Various equipment and furniture were purchased and supplied to equip the Kemerovo branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts.

1631 items were used to equip educational and auxiliary premises, catering unit, gym, library, and cloakroom alone.

Even more items of equipment were used for a students theater, engineering solutions and materials for the stage and concert hall, and unique machines to equip production and training workshops.

The walls here are covered with special panels that will trap every sound coming from the stage, and the gears of the sophisticated turntable stage allow for a 360-degree rotation.  

Profound traditions of Russia's oldest theater institute will be passed on to students of the branch also using the latest digital technology.

"Over the past five years, Kuzbass has deserved the right to be called the cultural center of Siberia. The Siberian cultural and educational complex is very important for the region. It will be the center of social life, a point of attraction for guests and a modern educational platform for talented young people. We assume that every child is talented, and our task is to help unlock the potential, support and show prospects for their development. Not only Kuzbass students, but also boys and girls from other regions and even countries are already studying here. I am sure that a bright creative life awaits them in the future," emphasized Governor Sergey Tsivilev.

For the 1st year in 2022, 84 students from 15 regions of the country were admitted. The Institute educates specialists of all major theatrical trades: performing artists, directors, production designers, visual artists, producers, and specialists in drama study. In the new academic year they plan to admit future film and television directors, cinematographers, sound directors in audiovisual arts.

The branch also offers additional education programs for children and adults in the field of digital art. The flagship project of the branch is the School of Creative Industries, opened in Kemerovo in 2020 for schoolchildren aged 12-17. Over the two-year cycle, teens are introduced to the promising areas of creative technology in animation, design, interactive digital technology, sound and electronic music production, photography and video production, theater and theater technology studios.

"A 240-bed dormitory and a comfort-class apartment building have been built for students and educators of the RGISI branch. All the facilities of the Cultural and Educational Complex are built under customized projects using the most modern technologies and materials, and fully comply with the best international standards. They have everything it takes to make a creative person," said Stroytransgaz CEO Dmitry Lebedev.

RGISI in figures:

12,850 sq.m. – total floor area of the building.

5 floors.

5,394 sq. m. – development area.

30,000 sq.m. – land plot area.

2,420 sq.m. – area of glass translucent partitions, and

3,254 sq. m. of stained glass windows.

450 sq.m. – open spaces (library, recreation areas) and lecture rooms.

37% - stained glass to facade cassettes ratio (5,445 sq. m. to 8,699 sq. m.).

Background:

As part of the Siberian Cultural and Educational Complex construction project by Stroytransgaz-Sibir, the following facilities will be built in Kemerovo: Opera and Ballet Theater (Branch of the State Academic Mariinsky Theater); Museum & Exhibition Centre (branch of Russian Museum); Kuzbass Centre of Arts with the Cinema and Concert Complex; Siberian Campus of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts with the School of Creative Industries; residential building for performing artists.

Already built and commissioned: Branch of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography with a boarding school; Siberian Branch of the Central Music School — Academy of Dramatic Arts with a boarding school; a comprehensive school with two swimming pools; the Campus of the Siberian Branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts with a stadium; Museum Depository with a restoration centre; residential building for teaching staff.

Four Cultural and Educational Complexes are being built in Vladivostok, Kemerovo, Sevastopol and Kaliningrad by order of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.

The construction of the Kemerovo Complex project was started in 2019.
