38,000 greeneries to be planted near the Tretyakov Gallery branch on Oktyabrsky Island

STG-Zapad started to landscape the adjacent area around the future museum building. The design concept for the public space was approved by the Town Planning Council of the Kaliningrad region. The total area to be landscaped will be 16,700 square meters.

More than a quarter of the area to be landscaped will be used for lawns and planting greenery. To create a landscape design around the perimeter, it is planned to plant large coniferous and deciduous trees beautifully blooming in different seasons, perennial shrubs, flower beds and decorative grasses, arranged in compositions and forming space. One of the criteria for choosing decorative plantings that will emphasize the coziness and comfort of the area is unpretentiousness and ease of maintenance. A variety of plants such as pine, hawthorn, maple, mountain ash, apple, cherry, ninebark, roses, geraniums, day lily, echinacea, fatuoid, reedgrass, etc. will be planted.

The landscaping requires extra attention to detail, as the area will be used daily by hundreds of city residents and visitors. Benches and other hardscape items will be installed around the building. A multimedia information desk will be located near the main entrance to the museum. The walking area will be kept apart from the roadway and parking lot by safety steel bollards.

The area will be secured by outdoor surveillance cameras. For this, the museum building perimeter and public space will be under 24-hour video surveillance connected to the Safe City digital platform.

"When the museum area landscaping project passed the approval process, we were already actively preparing for its implementation in the agronomic period," notes Dmitry Rzhannikov, STG-Zapad CEO.– The concrete base is now ready to accept the finish paving in the pedestrian area. It will be installed using light and dark gray stone. Delivery of greenery and hardscape items is expected soon. In general, the adjacent area of the Tretyakov Gallery branch is only a part of a bigger project and it will set the direction for the entire landscape design at the Cultural and Educational Complex".

A branch of the Bolshoi Theater and the Baltic Higher School of Music and Theater Arts are also being built on the island. The adjacent areas of all buildings will be integrated into a single public space
