Progress of Construction of Kaliningrad Cultural and Educational Centre

4,400 square meters of the exhibition space of the Tretyakov Gallery branch is ready to be finished. The first elements of the facade made of glass and corten steel were installed on the building of the Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts, a branch of RGISI.The building of the Bolshoi Theater branch is being erected at an elevation of 31 to 36 meters.

STG-Zapad still keeps a high pace of construction of the Cultural and Educational Center on Oktyabrsky Island in Kaliningrad. The buildings of the branches of the Tretyakov Gallery, the Bolshoi Theater and RGISI are being erected on schedule.

The highest level of full completion is that of the future museum. It is estimated to be at 70%. 14 halls of exhibition space are ready for finishing with decorative plaster. MEP equipment of the building has been fully installed and preparations for commissioning are underway. Installation of translucent structures – stained glass windows – along the perimeter of the building is nearing completion. The brick facade installation is in progress. Outdoor utility systems have been completed. A concrete base has been laid on the adjacent area to install a finish pavement.

The first elements of the facade made of glass and corten steel were installed on the first level of the building of the Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts. Installation of the mullion and transom system for fixing translucent structures and steel is underway at the third floor level. Overall, it is estimated to be 47% complete.

The cast-in-place frame of the Bolshoi Theater branch building is 85% complete. Erection of vertical reinforced concrete structures at the elevation of 31 to 36 meters is in progress. Overall, installed structural steel, including the cantilever being erected, amounts to 10%. Thus, the overall completion of the building’s supporting structures is estimated at 50%.

“As of today, the construction of three facilities proceeds as scheduled,” says Dmitry Rzhannikov, STG-Zapad CEO.– As for the branch of the Tretyakov Gallery, we continue finishing works, building of the adjacent area, while actively preparing the handover package for the project commissioning. We have started to enclose the building of the RGISI branch with metal and glass facades and, therefore, once the facade is complete we will start to finish the interior. The building of the Bolshoi Theater branch is continuing to be erected at an elevation of up to 36 meters.

The task to create four cultural centres (Vladivostok, Kemerovo, Sevastopol, Kaliningrad) was set by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in his Address to the Federal Assembly in 2018 and detailed in the Executive Order on the National Goals and Strategic Objectives of Development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024.

Oktyabrsky Island in Kaliningrad also hosts:

- Tretyakov Gallery Branch — 14 exhibition halls with a total area of 4,400 square meters;

- Opera and Ballet Theater (Branch of the Bolshoi Theater) — large auditorium with 950 seats, small auditorium with 300 seats;

- Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts (Branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts) for 150 seats.

Construction of the Cultural and Educational Complex in Kaliningrad is being carried out by Stroytransgaz Group as commissioned by the National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects.
