The first batch of materials and equipment for the upper and lower machinery system of the main auditorium and the main stage of the Bolshoi Theatre branch was delivered to the construction site on Oktyabrsky Island in Kaliningrad. The installation of the upper machinery system has started in the small auditorium.


Construction of a cultural and educational complex continues on the island, which includes branches of the Bolshoi Theater, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts with the School of Creative Industries.

The future theater is being erected at a height of 31 to 36 meters. At the same time with the erection of the vertical structures of the building, the installation of the upper stage machinery system began in the small auditorium, including curtain sliding mechanisms, hoist winches, bank lights trusses, gantry towers, hoist components, and fire-fighting equipment.

"The entire system of upper stage machinery of both main and small auditoriums with regard to conveyors for scenery transposition, relocation and movement is manufactured at Russian plants. Previously, such systems were developed mainly by Western manufacturers," says Dmitry Rzhannikov, General Director of STG-Zapad. - At present the works have started in the small auditorium, the structure of which is completely ready. The first part of materials and equipment for upper and lower machinery and control systems has been delivered for the main auditorium, which is currently under construction".

The  reinforced concrete  cast-in-place framework of the theater is now 88% complete. 16% of steel structures have been mounted. The overall readiness of the load-bearing structures of the building is estimated at 54%.

The finishing of the exhibition hall walls with decorative plaster has started in the building of the Tretyakov Gallery branch. The 20-meter grand staircase, which is the central element of the future public space, is covered with fireproof materials. All rooms of the museum are tiled and parquet flooring. Clinker tiling of the facade continues around the perimeter of the building. Active work is underway to improve the territory.

The main stage of the construction of the building of the Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts is the construction of the facade. The rack and crossbeam system for fixing stained glass and steel elements is now 59% complete. Currently 28% of translucent structures and 9% of cassettes of Corten steel are mounted.

STG-Zapad still keeps a high pace of construction of the Cultural and Educational Center.

The task to create four cultural centres (Vladivostok, Kemerovo, Sevastopol, Kaliningrad) was set by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in his Address to the Federal Assembly in 2018 and detailed in the Executive Order on the National Goals and Strategic Objectives of Development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024.

Oktyabrsky Island in Kaliningrad also hosts:

- Tretyakov Gallery Branch — 14 exhibition halls with a total area of 4.4 thousand square meters;

- Opera and Ballet Theatre (Branch of the Bolshoi Theatre) — large auditorium with 950 seats, small auditorium with 300 seats;

- Baltic Higher School of Music and Dramatic Arts (Branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts) for 150 seats.

Construction of the cultural and education complex in Kaliningrad is underway by Stroytransgaz Group as commissioned by the National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects.
