The First Aircraft has Landed at the Perm Airport Reconstructed by JSC Stroytransgaz

On 15 January, the first aircraft landed at the Bolshoye Savino Perm International Airport after the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency had issued a temporary permit for operation of the airport terminal apron, three aircraft parking apron, buffer zone, and taxiway built by Stroytransgaz. The total area of constructed sites is almost 37,000 sq.m.

Dmitry Budrin, Technical Director of the International Airport, mentioned that Stroytransgaz had completed all concrete works in September 2020. Further, the concrete foundation took 28 days to gain strength, after which a request was sent to the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency for a permit to operate the infrastructure.

Reconstruction of the Perm Airport utility structures was required for the transport hub to receive all classes of aircraft using modern boarding bridges. All the five boarding bridges are mounted simultaneously to the three galleries of the airport (two to the side ones and one to the central one). The work was completed at the end of August.

Today, the first warm boarding bridges to the terminal were tested by passengers of the Aeroflot flight from Moscow. They were welcomed by Andrey Alyakrinsky, Acting Minister of Transport of the Perm Territory.

According to Andrey Alyakrinsky, it was a significant and long-awaited event for residents of the Perm Territory. “Today, first passengers entered the Bolshoy Savino terminal through a warm boarding bridge. We had been looking forward to this event. Dmitry Makhonin, Governor of the Perm Territory, personally inspected the reconstructed airport infrastructure, kept the issue under special control, and negotiated with federal colleagues. Yesterday, we received the last documents from the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, required for commissioning of the new apron, aircraft parking, and taxiway. We are certain now that all the challenging stages are over: the boarding bridges will receive passengers every day, which is especially important in cold winters. Our airport will be even more convenient, and the Perm Territory – more attractive, including for guests from other regions and countries,” said the Acting Minister.

In general, the airport reconstruction project execution will solve the problem of lack of ground infrastructure and will allow the airport, which was commissioned in November 2017, to function fully, increasing the traffic capacity of the Perm air harbour to 2 million people per year.

The next step in the development of the Prikamye air harbour will be the second stage of infrastructure reconstruction to be continued by Stroytransgaz. It involves strengthening of the runway, which will allow the Perm Airport to accept aircraft of any class and expand its possibilities of air communication. According to Governor Dmitry Makhonin, the second stage completion could make the Perm Territory a platform for major international culture and sports events.
