The President of the Russian Federation Takes Part in the Opening Ceremony of the Repinskaya Junction in Khimki, Built Ahead of Schedule by JSC Straytransgaz

On 26 January, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the opening ceremony of a junction at the intersection of the M-10 Russia Highway and Repina Street in Khimki, built by JSC Straytransgaz. JSC Straytransgaz was represented by V.A. Lavlentsev, General Director, A.V. Liventsov, Director for Production Preparation & Civil Engineering Warranty Maintenance, and employees of the Khimki Junction Construction Project Directorate, at the event.

The Repinskaya Junction construction was carried out during the pandemic, but despite this, the work was completed ahead of schedule – the road was to be completed at the end of 2021 according to the contract. Moreover, traffic on the Leningradskoye Highway was not stopped during the junction construction, so no inconveniences were caused to drivers.

“This is the very junction that you set a deadline until the end of 2021 for. The pandemic [did not stop us]. We managed to complete it ahead of schedule. We did not stop working,” said A.Yu. Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow Region.

Vladimir Putin instructed to build the Repinskaya Junction during his visit to NPO Energomash in April 2019. Employees of the enterprise told the president about the need for a new connection between the two districts in Khimki. This will save the city district from traffic jams on Yubileiny Prospekt, and it will now take 10 instead of 30 minutes to get from Starye Khimki to Novye Khimki and vice versa. The travel time for public transport will also be reduced due to the new junction.

The Russian leader expressed gratitude to the workers who took part in the project implementation. Putin emphasised that the country's road workers are fulfilling all the tasks and construction plans, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. “By 2024, we plan to bring 85% of roads up to the standard in the 105 largest agglomerations of the country. And 51 agglomerations more are to be brought up to the standard by 2030... This is a very large scope of work, and it is throughout the country,” said the President of the Russian Federation after thanking all the project participants.

In October 2020, Stroytransgaz launched the junction bridge. The whole process was recorded using a GoPro camera. The timelapse video created as a result of the shooting was posted on the Instagram account of A.Yu. Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow Region, and gained high ratings on social networks.

The construction was carried out under the Safe and High-Quality Roads national project. The main line of the Repinskaya Junction is 0.8 km long. The number of lanes in the main line is from 2 to 5 with an estimated speed of 70 km/h. For the convenience and safety of residents, a pedestrian zone was arranged, outdoor lighting and traffic lights were installed.
