Making the world a little bit friendly: Special Olympics competitions were held under the sponsorship of Stroytransgaz

Stroytransgaz sponsors the city track and field competitions under the Special Olympics program within the company's corporate social responsibility. 50 athletes with intellectual disabilities gathered at the Sports Palace of the Moscow State Budgetary Institution "Moskvich” Olympic Reserve school.

The Special Olympics Movement was founded in 1968 to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and involvement of all people. The mission of the Special Olympics is to organize year-round training and competitions in various sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This creates permanent opportunities to improve physical fitness, demonstrate courage, find enjoyment and engage in the development of talents, skills, and friendly relations with family members, other athletes of Special Olympics and society at large.

Within the framework of the competition, athletes competed for medals at distances of 25, 50, 100, 200, 400 meters, in the 4x100 m  relay, in the shot put and standing long jump. Following the results of the competition, a draw was held, as a result of which the Moscow combined track-and-field athletics team was chosen under the Special Olympics program. The guys who were included in the combined team will take part in the All-Russian sports and athletic contest under the Special Olympics in Athletics in March 2021 in Chelyabinsk.
