STG launched traffic on Oktyabrsky Avenue in Lyubertsy

Alexey Gerzhik, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region, and Vladimir Volkov, Mayor of Lyubertsy, together with representatives of Stroytransgaz Group of Companies, launched traffic on Oktyabrsky Avenue in Lyubertsy, Moscow Region. Then, Andrey Vorobyov, the Governor of the Moscow region, drove along the opened section, and also talked to the builders and car drivers who were eagerly waiting for this road facility, as the press service of the Governor and the government of the region reports.

STG is the general contractor for the project being implemented based on instructions from Andrey Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow Region. The reconstruction section spans from the intersection of Vlasova Street and Oktyabrsky Avenue to the approach to the overpass through the railway tracks with a turn into Volkovskaya Street.

Oktyabrsky Avenue used to have 4 lanes. The reconstruction has widened the section to 8 and even 12 lanes, taking into account the relief roads. The length of the works is 1.5km along the main road and about 3 km along service roads and ramps.

Before traffic was opened on the overpass, asphalt concrete paving had been completed, road markings applied, and barriers, guardrails, and road signs installed.

To ensure road safety, 2 pedestrian underpasses were built and 3 traffic lights and 7 bus stops were installed.

The reconstruction of the avenue will help to improve traffic conditions on the Lyubertsy’s main transport artery, connecting the town with Moscow. Traffic is more than 45,000 vehicles per day. In 2019, an extensive renovation of the facility began. It consists of five phases and will relieve traffic pressure in this important area.

"As part of the adjacent area landscaping, we will install backlighting on the overpass, which will show its contours at night. We will also build 2 underground pedestrian crossings for the convenience of our people," said Pyotr Ponomaryov, Director of Infrastructure Construction Project Management.

Now, the overall civil completion of Phase I is 80%. Completion of the works will help redistribute traffic flows and improve the capacity of Oktyabrsky Avenue by 35% (about 80,000 vehicles per day). Drivers will save 30 minutes to 1.5 hours on travel time.
