Now that the road construction season in the Perm Territory has been open ever since air temperatures settled above zero, the construction progress is faster on the road section of the main route of the Vostochny Bypass and Perm-Berezniki roads, which are included in the construction project of the bridge across the Chusovaya River being implemented by Stroytransgaz.

The road builders are very busy installing stormwater drains, culverts, retaining walls, and road bed embankment on the main route of 9.2km-long road. More than 350,000 cu.m of sand and almost 40,000 cu.m of crushed stone will be used to build the main route of the road.

In winter, no road works were ever stopped. Crossing structures are also being built on a 365 basis. In addition to the bridge over the Chusovaya River, the project includes 3 new interchanges and 3 new pedestrian overpasses.

Concreting formwork is being installed to cast the roadway slab on the overpass at the intersection of Vostochny Bypass with Tsimlyanskaya Street.

Pile foundations are completely installed for footings of all five pillars, and pile caps are being installed on the overpass of the interchange at the intersection with Korsunskaya street.

Activities are progressing on the new right side overpass in the area of Palniki railway station: the pillars are being constructed, and preparations are underway on the mounted beams of superstructures on spans between pillars 3 to 6 to install an in-situ carriageway slab.

Also, work is continuing on the first of 2 rail overpasses that will be reconstructed within the station-to-station block of Levshino-Golovanovo where the overpass spans the Perm-Berezniki highway. Non-operating rail overpasses within the construction area have been removed, the construction camp deployed, temporary accesses to job sites constructed, and installation of bored piles of pillars has started, each overpass will have 8 of them.

Pedestrian overpasses are being built: the builders have completely installed supports for the superstructure over Vostochny Bypass road, footings for pavilions, and are now installing pile foundations for footings across the Perm-Berezniki highway.

The construction of the bridge over the Chusovaya River is also in full swing. To date, 11 out of 14 piers have been built, the remaining 3 piers are under construction and scheduled for completion this summer. Meanwhile, on the right bank of the Chusovaya river, more than 2,800 out of 7,140 tons of superstructure’s steel has already been fabricated. Preparations are underway on the left bank between piers 1 to 5 to lower the superstructure onto the supporting parts and to concrete the carriageway slab. Also, the future road is scheduled to be connected to the new bridge soon.

About 900 personnel and 130 units of machinery are engaged in operations on a daily basis.

Project background:

The bridge over the Chusovaya river under construction will be a part of Moscow - Kazan - Perm - Khanty-Mansiysk - Surgut - Tomsk transport corridor. The commissioning of the facility will eliminate traffic jams at the Chusovaya river crossing and improve transport communication. The project provides for the reconstruction of interchange in the area of Palniki village; new interchanges will appear at the intersection of Solikamsk highway with Korsunskaya Street, as well as between the Eastern Bypass and Tsimlyanskaya Street. The new bridge will be a “twin” of the existing one. It will be located 18 meters away from the existing bridge. The length of the four-lane bridge under construction will be 1.5km.
