Video Review – Construction of Bridge across the Chusovaya River in Perm Krai (September 2022)

Stroytransgaz JSC proceeds with the construction of the largest road transport facility in Perm Territory – a bridge across the Chusovaya River and access ways to it. The bridge under construction will become part of the Moscow – Kazan – Perm – Khanty-Mansiysk – Surgut – Tomsk transport route. In addition to the construction of a 1.5 km long bridge, the project involves construction of over 7.7 km of roads, three interchanges, a railway overpass and several elevated pedestrian crossings.

Chusovaya River Bridge

From the right bank, the span has already been launched for a total of 800 m (out of 1155 m). About 5,400 out of 7,140 tons of the span’s steel structures have been assembled. The launching will be completed as far as this autumn, and the two parts of the span from different river banks will be joined in the area of the fifth pillar.

The second part of the span is being concreted; its launching was completed earlier this year. 512 out of 1024 cubic meters of roadway slabs have been covered with material. On the approaches to the bridge from both banks, the construction of embankment of the earth bed along the main course of the road is underway. 12.5 thousand out of 20.7 thousand cubic meters of sandy soil have already been dumped.

Main Route of the Road

Construction of the road part along the main route of the Vostochny Bypass and Perm – Berezniki motor roads continues: laying of pavement, protection of existing embankment slopes, installation of outdoor electric lighting and an automated traffic control system.

The “road pie” of the main route of the road will include 3 layers of asphalt concrete pavement with the total thickness of 22 cm. All materials for the road construction are manufactured at the company’s own factory located near the construction site. This helps to reduce the logistics timeframes, and prevent delivery delays. The quality of produced materials is inspected by specialists of the company’s own laboratory, installed right at the facility.

Interchanges

The project provides for the construction of three new interchanges:

– Interchange near the Palniki railway station

Interchange readiness – 83%. Improvement of the railway overpass near the Palniki station is underway.

In 2021, a 166 m long left-side overpass was put in operation. The work on the new right-side overpass is in progress – construction of all supports has been completed, all span beams have been installed, concreting of the monolithic slab of the roadway is in progress. Road pavement installation is planned for the near future.

Specialists are constructing the approaches to the new overpass, and proceed with the erection of the interchange ramps with a total length of 1.41 km.

Tsimlyanskaya Street Intersection Interchange

Interchange readiness – 89%. The key facility of the interchange is a two-lane overpass with a length of 168 m, resting on 7 constructed pillars. The installation of the monolithic span slab, its waterproofing and asphalt covering have been completed. Installation of thet barrier protection and water drainage facilities is underway. Upon completion of these works, the workers will commence laying the road surface.

Pavement layers are being laid at all 4 exits.

Korsunskaya Street Intersection Interchange

Interchange readiness – 65%. The key interchange facility is a two-lane road overpass with a length of 93.65 m. The installation of the monolithic span slab and its waterproofing have been completed. Installation of stairway steel structures is in progress, along with the elements of the overpass interface with the embankment of access ways.

Pavement layers are being laid at all the interchange exits.

Railway Overpass

STG is improving the railway overpass at the Levshino-Golovanovo crossover across the Perm – Berezniki highway. In order not to block the railway communication, work on the overpass is being carried out alternately for each traffic direction. The interfacing with the embankment and stair approaches is being arranged.

The construction of three elevated pedestrian crossings is keeping up with the schedule as well. All crossings are designed with due account for the needs of people with limited mobility, including elevators designed for operation at low temperatures.

About 900 personnel and 150 units of machinery are engaged in operations on a
daily basis.
