Reconstruction of Tupoleva Street in Zhukovsky City

In July 2018 Stroytransgaz JSC signed an agreement for reconstruction of Tupoleva street in Zhukovsky city of Moscow Region. The Customer is Moscow Region State Public Institution “Road Construction Administration”.

The reconstructed 2.7 km long section lies from road junction at the intersection of Tupoleva street and Tupolevskoye highway up to the bridge across the Khripan river. As part of the agreement STG will expand the highway up to six lanes (three each way). Estimated traffic speed on the new road will be 70 km per hour.

In the course of project execution STG will build two-level interchange, five overground pedestrian crossings and 713 m long four-lane tunnel near the Gromov Square, 280 meters of which will be a closed section. The existing bus stops will be remodelled at the Gromov Square. Upon completion of main works landscaping and infrastructure development of the surrounding area will be carried out, in particular conifers and shrubs will be planted.

Reconstruction of Tupoleva street is planned within Land-use Planning Scheme and is part of Moscow Region State Program “Development and Functioning of Road Traffic Complex”. The project is planned to be finalized in the end of 2021.

Project significance

Level of service and total traffic capacity of Tupoleva street with one traffic lane each way makes it impossible to ensure proper vehicle access for users of community, cultural, scientific and industrial facilities in Zhukovsky city and adjacent areas. Additional road load also occurs due to transit traffic from Ramenskoye town.

Reconstruction project execution will allow to synchronize Tupoleva street with previously constructed Access road to Zhukovsky (Gromov Flight Research Institute) from M5 highway “Ural”, ensure vehicle access for National Centre of Aircraft Construction and in general improve road traffic situation in Zhukovsky city in view of its future development.
