Construction Progress at Phase 1 of the M-12 Highway

Stroytransgaz Group is carrying out the construction of Phase 1 of the M-12 Moscow-Kazan-Ekaterinburg Highway. Work at the phase is going on around the clock, according to the planned production schedule. The length of Phase 1 of the M-12 highway construction is 80 km, it passes through the territories of the Moscow Region – 11.7 km and the Vladimir Region – 68.3 km.

The most remarkable event of the past week was the installation of span beams on the overpass across the M-7 federal highway near the village of Novoe Annino in the Petushinsky District of the Vladimir region.

The total length of the overpass is 38.8 m, the width of the span is 32.5 m. The project provides for the installation of 2 piers for each traffic direction. The overpass will have 6 traffic lanes.

On the artificial structure, span beams were installed for the left and right directions. It is noteworthy that the installation of beams in the design position was carried out by a self-propelled crane with a lifting capacity of 500 tons at night. The maximum interval of traffic blocking in the M-7 highway was 20 minutes.

At the moment, work is underway on the construction of monolithic sections of the overpass spans. Upon completion, the builders will begin the construction of the bridge deck, and it is planned to complete the interface of the overpass with the approach embankments by the end of summer. The traffic launch on the structure is scheduled for October 2022.

In total, 29 artificial structures will be built at Phase 1. At this point, work is being carried out at each of them.

To date, an underground pedestrian crossing has been built next to the transport interchange at the intersection with the M-7 highway. All three cattle passes are 98% ready, waterproofing of the facilities is underway. 9 out of 24 artificial structures are 75% ready. Span beams have been mounted thereon, work is underway to install roadway slabs.

In total, 4,076 piers were driven at the phase, 14.2 thousand m3 of concrete was laid, 125 beams were installed on the artificial structures. 15,315 thousand tons of sand, 668.6 thousand tons of crushed stone, and 1,268.7 thousand tons of stone sand mixture have been delivered. 964 tons of steel structures have been supplied. 80 km of temporary roads have been built. 82 out of 107 utilities have been switched.

Since the start of work at Phase 1 of the M-12 highway construction, 875.3 thousand m3 of soil and excavation have been completed, 6,441 thousand m3 of embankment have been arranged (taking into account the embankment of the subgrade, construction of the working layer of the subgrade, and replacement of soft soil), 595 thousand m3 of sand bed has been completed.

On the main course of the road, 3 layers of asphalt concrete pavement will be laid: the top layer of the base, the lower and top layers of the pavement. To date, 476 thousand m2 of the top layer of the base has been laid. 161.3 thousand tons of the mixture was used for this. The length of the finished section is 26.5 km.

1,972 people and 462 units of machinery are used in the construction of M-12 Phase 1 every day.
